Grand opening planned for Joplin's first-ever suspension bridge

The city of Joplin will officially debut its first-ever suspension bridge with the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Tin Cup Bridge and Tin Cup Trail.
The ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, June 26, at the new bridge site located south of the Joplin Family Y.
Parking will be available in the lot behind the Y, and officials are inviting the public to attend the celebration.
The bridge was delayed a bit due to a shortage of building materials.
City leaders say the completion of the Tin Cup Bridge and the 1.5-mile Tin Cup Trail marks a major step forward in expanding Joplin’s pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
The project is part of the city’s broader Active Transportation Plan, which focuses on increasing green space connectivity and improving non-motorized transportation options across the community.
With the addition of the Tin Cup Trail, Joplin now has approximately 18 miles of interconnected, pedestrian-friendly trails.
