JOPLIN
National Seed Swap Day at the Empire Market in Joplin, Missouri, is a free community event on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Master Gardeners and friends will offer seeds to swap and give away (first come, first served) to market visitors, along with gardening information. Held at the Empire Market, 931 E 4th St, Joplin, MO, this annual celebration aligns with the national observance of National Seed Swap Day (last Saturday in January), encouraging seed sharing to promote biodiversity and local gardening. No registration is needed—just stop by during market hours!
"Ruined by Rhymes: A Poetic Murder Mystery" is an immersive, interactive fundraiser presented by Dream Theatre Company in Joplin, Missouri. This brand-new production runs on Friday, January 30, 2026, and Saturday, January 31, 2026, with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. and the mystery starting at 7:30 p.m. at 124 S. Main Street, Joplin, MO. Audience members step into a poetic "whodunnit" world, piecing together clues hidden in rhymes and dialogue to identify the killer among suspicious characters (including kids and adults sharing the stage). General admission tickets are $15, but reservations are required due to limited seating and the interactive format. Proceeds support Dream Theatre Company’s mission of delivering contemporary, high-quality, uncensored performing arts to the Joplin community.
