Traffic fatalities in Missouri down for third consecutive year

There's good news about traffic fatalities in Missouri: They're going down.

The state of Missouri has seen a third consecutive year of declining traffic fatalities as announced by Missouri officials Tuesday.

Governor Mike Kehoe, alongside the Missouri Department of Transportation and Missouri State Highway Patrol. revealed there were 911 fatalities in 2025, down from 955 from the previous year.

Compared to three years ago, Missouri has achieved a 14% reduction in roadway deaths, marking the first time the state has seen a three-year decline since 2019.

MoDOT and its partners have also launched an updated Show-Me Zero plan, a statewide roadmap for reducing traffic fatalities through education, enforcement, engineering and emergency response.

Governor Kehoe, MoDOT and MSHP also called for continued action to save lives on Missouri roadways to progress forward on the goal of zero roadway deaths.
