Plans to make improvements to Route 96 Corridor focus of public meetings

The public is invited to meetings to learn more about plans to make improvements along Missouri Route 96 (Central Avenue) in Carthage.

An in-person meeting will be held 4:30-6 p.m., Thursday, January 22 at the Carthage Water & Electric Plant Community Room, 627 W. Centennial Avenue.

The meeting will be come-and-go style with an opportunity to speak with project staff. There will be no formal presentation given. The public is welcome to attend at any time during the meeting.

A virtual (online) option will be available for two weeks from Thursday, January 15 through Thursday, January 29, and can be accessed at the project webpage here. The public is invited to make comments or ask questions via a form available on the project website.

Beginning this summer, contractors will begin making pavement, traffic flow, safety and sidewalk improvements along Route 96 (Central Avenue) in Carthage from just west of I-49 to Missouri Route 571 (Garrison Avenue).

The project’s estimated total cost is $15.3 million.
