Identity released of Joplin woman who died at Webb City jail

An inmate at the Webb City Jail who died there early Tuesday evening has now been identified.

Webb City Police Chief Don Melton says the woman was 41-year-old Teri S. Gaston of Joplin.

He says Gaston was arrested at around 5:20 p.m. Monday for Driving While Intoxicated - Persistent Offender - a Class E Felony -and Endangering the Welfare of a Child - a Class A Misdemeanor.

She was being held in the Webb City Jail pending transfer to the Jasper County Jail when she was found unresponsive Tuesday evening.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
