The Joplin History and Mineral Museum will be closed to the public in January 2026 for remodeling and exhibit updates.

The main project will be the remodel of the circus room and the upgrading of several other exhibits, as well as the completion of the 100th anniversary exhibit on Route 66. Plans are to have an opening for the Route 66 exhibit when the museum reopens in February.

The museum will reopen on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
