Missouri considers A-F grading system for school districts

(Missourinet) – Missouri is considering whether to grade school districts on an A-through-F scale.
State Board of Education member Kerry Casey has asked the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to draft a proposal or timeline for the A-through-F system by February.
Casey, of St. Louis County, says the letter grades would make performance reports simpler and more transparent.
The current system scores districts on a 1-to-100 scale, factoring in test results, graduation rates, attendance, and other measures.
Under the proposed plan, test scores would account for at least 90 percent of a district’s grade.
