Former law enforcement officer held on child pornography charges

A former law enforcement officer is being held in the Lawrence County jail on child pornography charges.

49-year-old Scott Gaston, Marionville, was taken into custody after a warrant was served at his home.

Gaston is charged with Promoting Child Pornography, 2nd Degree and Possession of Child Pornography, 1st offense.

On October 09, 2025, a CyberTip Report (CTR) was transmitted to law enforcement from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

That is after user account was recorded in September as having uploaded twenty-nine (29) media files of suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM), also referred to as child pornography, to Google Photos.

The IP address, email and phone number matched that of Scott Gaston.

Gaston has 17 years of experience as a law enforcement officer. He has worked for the Monett Police Department and the Aurora Police Department.

He is being held without bond in the Lawrence County jail.
