Joplin man identified as victim in Danville, Illinois murder

A 30-year-old man from Joplin, Missouri has been identified as the man killed in a shooting early Saturday morning in Danville, Illinois.

Vermilion County, Illinois Coroner Jane McFadden said 30-year-old Tevin J. Patton of Joplin died after a shooting at Scooter’s Bar in Danville.

Late that same morning, 30-year-old Trevon Lake of Danville was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.

Lake reportedly showed up at an emergency room with a non-life-threatening injury not long after the shooting, according to police.

Police have not said if Lake knew the victim.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Danville police asked if anyone knows anything about the shooting to call the Danville Police Department or the Vermilion County Crimestoppers at (217) 466-TIPS.
