Legal Sports Betting Goes Live in Missouri December 1: Analysts Predict $4 Billion First-Year Handle
The wait is almost over—legalized sports betting is about to hit Missouri. Starting Monday, December 1st, fans across the Show Me State can place their first legal wagers. Christopher Boan, an analyst at BetMissouri.com, says this is a very important time for the Show-Me State, and that Missouri could become a top sports betting state in handle size—that’s the total amount wagered by bettors..
“At BettMissouri, you know, kind of conservatively estimated a first-year handle of about 4 billion dollars. There’s no other states that are launching this year for mobile sports betting, a full sports betting market the way that Missouri is.”
“And that’s because of the state’s connection to an NFL team in Kansas City. Obviously, you have NHL team in St. Louis. You have two Major League Baseball teams in the state. So that just means there’s a lot of betting interest and kind of makes the market primed to take off and really fly from day one.”
Boan estimates Missouri will have a first-year handle of about four billion dollars, which is the total amount wagered by bettors.
