Community Events this Weekend

JOPLIN
The Event, held on Friday, at Ozark Christian College, is a weekend event for church groups of high school students in grades 9-12. It aims to encourage and equip youth ministers, challenge students to pursue a life of mission with God, build Christian character, and recruit workers for Christian service aligned with Ozark’s mission.
The Joplin History & Mineral Museum Model Railroad Show and Swap Meet will occur on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 504 S. Schifferdecker Avenue, Joplin, MO 64801. Admission is $5.00 for adults, free for children 12 and under, with swap tables available for $20 each. The event offers trains, trading, and fun for hobbyists and families.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Saturday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 3402 S. Jackson Ave., Joplin, MO. The event features a 22-foot Christmas tree lighting at 5:30 PM, an open house, photos with Santa, storytime with Mrs. Claus, live entertainment, children’s crafts, hot cocoa, cookies, and signature drinks. Mutts Gone Nuts, a family-friendly show featuring rescue dogs, will take place on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Created by Scott and Joan Houghton, the performance combines canine talent with comedy and has been praised by The Washington Post as a “must-see.”
