This Sunday – MSSU, Joplin High School welcome 135th Army Band for free concert

Missouri Southern State University’s KGCS-TV and Joplin High School are excited to welcome the 135th Army Band on Sunday, November 9, 2025 for their free concert, “A Salute to Veterans.”

This is the third year for this free concert, which will be held at Joplin High School’s Performing Arts Center at 3:00 pm. The community is invited to attend and celebrate Veteran’s Day by enjoying patriotic selections played by the 135th Army Band out of Springfield, Missouri.

General Manager of Missouri Southern’s KGCS-TV told the KZRG Morning Newswatch:

“So for the third year in a row, we are welcoming the 135th Army Band for a special concert. It’s free, a salute to veterans. And this has typically been at the Missouri Southern State University campus. TPAC is booked. So we’re co-hosting this with the Joplin High School and it’s going to be at the Performing Arts center, which is great, great parking, great accessibility.”

There is no cost to attend, and registration is not required.

The 135th Army Band is the official Missouri Army National Guard band, based in Springfield, that serves as a musical and public relations ambassador for the state and the military. It performs at various civic and military events throughout Missouri and has also performed internationally.

The band is comprised of different music performance teams and includes musicians who are also college students, engineers, teachers, and other professionals.

For those unable to attend, a live recording of the event will be posted on the KGCS YouTube channel.
