Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance: Options Still Available Despite Rate Hikes

(Missourinet) – Insurance rates are going up—but state officials say there’s still good news for Missourians shopping for coverage.

Although rates on Missouri’s open market are expected to rise next year, regulators say consumers still have choices.

Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance Director Angela Nelson says every county will continue to offer at least two plans, even as some premiums could climb by 20 percent or more.

The open market—better known as the Affordable Care Act marketplace—serves Missourians without employer insurance.

Open enrollment runs through January 15, but to start coverage January 1, you must enroll by December 15.

For questions, Missourians can call the Department of Commerce and Insurance’s Consumer Hotline or visit dci.mo.gov.
