KZRG’s Steve Scott honored with regional media hall of fame nomination

A special award for a special man!

Newstalk KZRG’s Steve Scott aka Ben Woolery will join broadcasting excellence when he is inducted into Missouri Southern’s Regional Media Hall of Fame this month.

The Regional Media Hall of Fame recognizes individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions to the media industry over the past two decades or more. Whether in print, broadcast, digital or behind the scenes, media professionals shape the stories that define our communities.

A commercial producer, DJ, news announcer and even radio station owner, Woolery has worked in broadcast operations throughout the Four State area and currently is the KZRG Morning NewsWatch Host covering news and severe weather.

In his more than 50 years on the job, he has been a role model and leader in the broadcast industry.

“He’s been the announcer on television and Ben has become a trusted voice by providing critical severe weather coverage, live news presentations that inform, protect and impact the communities he serves,” said KGCS station manager Lisa Olliges-Green.

“Ben has mentored colleagues and inspired countless listeners with his on air presence, commitment to local journalism and dedication to keeping the public informed. And his service to broadcasting in Joplin and the surrounding region reflects excellence, longevity and community dedication spanning from 1971 to the present,” continued Olliges-Green. “So for these reasons, we encourage everyone in the community to join us in recognizing and celebrating his outstanding contributions to the field of broadcasting and his lasting impact on our community as an inductee to the MSSU Department of Communication Regional Media hall of Fame.”
