Newton County man charged after 140mph police pursuit

A teenager from Fairview, Missouri, is facing several charges after he allegedly led police on a chase that reached 140mph Monday night.

19-year-old Aiden Engle was allegedly under the influence in the Neosho Walmart parking lot when police were first called.

Officers say when they activated lights and sirens, Engle accelerated rapidly and refused to stop.

During the pursuit, Engle allegedly passed multiple vehicles at his high rate of speed, which police say created a substantial risk to those around him.

His tire blew, which brought the chase to an end near Highway CC and Nettle Drive.

Engle also had a juvenile in the passenger seat during the entire ordeal.

He is charged with:

• Aggravated Fleeing A Stop Or Detention
• Endangering Welfare of Child Creating Substantial Risk
• DWI – Prior
• Owner Operating Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibility
• Failure To Register Motor Vehicle
