Homeless individuals dropped off and wished “good luck”
Joplin City Council says "it was not acceptable"

Homeless individuals being dropped off in Joplin. That’s the report from Joplin Mayor Keenan Cortez:
“What we have credible evidence on, maybe even video evidence, is not from anybody in the immediate area, but from outside of our area who have taken the time and willingly brought people to our community and, you know, opened the door for them and said, good luck.
Mayor Cortez went on to say:
“We passed an ordinance last week that said it was not acceptable. We’re not playing that game. Stop doing it right now. So what we’re hoping is that, and we’re prepared to move on fines, we’re prepared to move on charges if we need to. But we’re hoping that people will take a look that Joplin has a law now, Joplin has an ordinance that is passed in our city that says this is unacceptable behavior. Please stop doing that.”
Known entities involved include the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Nevada Regional Medical Center, confirmed by Assistant City Attorney Andrea Knobloch and Mayor Cortez.
Mayor Cortez clarified no current evidence of private or for-profit nonprofits engaging in this behavior despite rumors.
