Fatal fire in Pierce City Saturday night; two bodies recovered

On 10/25/2025 at 8:37 PM, Pierce City Fire Department was dispatched to 313 North Myrtle Street regarding a house on fire. Pierce City Fire along with Pierce City Police, Missouri Highway Patrol, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to the address where the home was found to be fully engulfed by fire.
Pierce City Fire along with area neighboring fire departments of Sarcoxie, Purdy, and Freistatt were able to contain the fire.
During the assessment of the property, firefighters discovered the remains of two unidentified individuals. The Missouri State Fire Marshal and Lawrence County Coroner were summoned to the scene where the remains of two persons were recovered.
The cause of fire is yet to be determined and under investigation. The bodies were taken for forensic identification and autopsy.
