Sikeston Missouri Police Officer fatally shot by gunman

In Sikeston in SE Missouri, flags are flying at half staff today.

That’s after a Sikeston Police officer was gunned down in the line of duty around 7:30 Monday night.

Officer Henry Franklin, a member of Sikeston’s Department of Public Safety Tactical Team, was fatally shot while trying to serve a warrant.

A man who had barricaded himself in a home opened fire striking Officer Franklin.

Officers later found the shooter dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
