Two semi trucks collide on I-44 near Fidelity

Two semi trucks collided around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon heading westbound on I-44 near Fidelity, Missouri.

A 2023 Western Star driven by a 53-year-old male from San Diego, California, merged into the path of a 2021 International to avoid striking an uninvolved vehicle. The 2021 International traveled off the road and struck a pole to an overhanging highway sign. 

The driver of the 2021 International, a 57-year-old male from Sullivan, Mo, was lifeflighted to a Springfield Hospital.

The extent of the injuries are unknown.
