Burlison takes part in Joplin-area manufacturing tour

7th District U.S. Congressman Eric Burlison took part today n a manufacturing tour today in and around Joplin.

Burlison toured local plants and factories along with other public servants, business people and MSSU students.

What’s it take to attract new plants and factories to the Joplin area?

Burlison told NewsTalk KZRG:

“We need to have our lawmakers, whether on the county, city and state level – and yes on the federal level – re-examine the harmful regulations that may be some of the pain level for some of these manufacturers and pull back.”

“We should also consider pulling back on taxation,” Burlison added.

Burlison says it’s important to have the most attractive conditions possible to land new companies.

“I would look at making sure you have all the infrastructure in place whether its the utilities electricity, water, roads —  access to everything they need and have an educated and a skilled work force,” he stated.

He said Missouri Southern State University is playing a valuable role in producing a workforce ready to occupy positions with new companies that arrive in the city.
