Two taken into custody after Pittsburg, Kansas fracus

On Monday morning, September 15, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. , law enforcement officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of S. Locust Street and E. Jefferson Street, in Pittsburg, in reference to a report of a motor vehicle collision

Investigation into the collision showed that a silver 2010 Ford Fusion, driven by 18year- old Terrian J. Williams, of Pittsburg, was traveling north on Locust Street, approaching the intersection at Jefferson, and a Black 2021 Toyota 4Runner, driven by 21yearold Caden C. Thomas, of Lawrence, Kansas, was traveling west on Jefferson Street approaching the intersection at Locust.

The northbound Ford Fusion failed to stop at the stop sign located along the southeast corner of the intersection, and then moved out onto Jefferson Street, striking the westbound Toyota 4Runner

The call initially came in as a collision resulting in possible injuries, however no injuries were reported to the officers

At approximately 11:10 AM, while officers were on scene investigating the collision, an employee with Stockade Brands, Inc., located at 1057 S. US 69 Highway, called and reported that a coworker had just stolen their silver 2010 Ford Fusion. The employee identified the suspect of the theft as Terrian J. Williams.

When officers began questioning Williams about the theft of the Ford Fusion, Williams began to flee from the officers, resulting in a foot pursuit. Law enforcement officers from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Pittsburg State University Police Department also responded to assist

The foot pursuit moved from the scene of the initial motor vehicle collision to a residence in the 400 block of E. Adams Street. There, Williams moved up onto the front porch of what turned out to be a random residence, and he began to throw items from the porch at officers, including heavy objects and blunt instruments. Officers contained Williams at the porch and began negotiating for him to surrender, during which Williams claimed to have a gun concealed on his person and threatened to shoot officers

While officers were negotiating with Williams to surrender, Williams’ mother, 39- yearold Denise R. KimbleHicks, of Pittsburg, who was a passenger with Williams in the stolen Ford Fusion at the time of the collision, arrived on scene and began to move up to the officers, yelling at them. Officers directed KimbleHicks multiple times to stay back, to which KimbleHicks continually refused. KimbleHicks was then taken into custody

Officers continued to negotiate with Williams to surrender to them, to which Williams refused, resulting in officers deploying a Taser. While Williams was under the effects of being tased, officers moved up and took him into custody without any further incidents

Crawford County EMS was contacted and asked to have medical technicians respond to E. Adams Street to check over Williams and KimbleHicks. There were no apparent injuries noted to either Williams or KimbleHicks

Both Williams and KimbleHicks were transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking. Williams was arrested for felony aggravated assault to a law enforcement officer, felony theft, felony interference with law enforcement, felony criminal threat and misdemeanor criminal damage. Kimble- Hicks was arrested for felony interference with law enforcement. Williams and KimbleHicks are currently being held without bond

Williams and KimbleHicks are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
