Man faces felony charges following police chase from Sarcoxie to Springfield
One man is in custody following a wild and wooly police chase in southwest Missouri on Tuesday.
According to a probable cause statement, police observed a white passenger car leave a Love’s Travel Stop in the Sarcoxie area. Law enforcement ran the license plate and the report came back that the vehicle was stolen.
A man identified as Jayson Maloney of Kansas City, Mo. is in custody in the Jasper County jail on felony charges.
Maloney has a $100,000 cash-only bond.
Master Sgt. Corum of the Sarcoxie Police Department observed the vehicle get onto High Street and turn right onto the eastbound I-44 on-ramp.
From there, the vehicle fled to the east on the interstate, reaching speeds of 110 mph.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s office set up spike sticks around the 68-mile maker but the driver of the car avoided them.
The Springfield Police Department deployed spikes at the 75.6 mile marker.
The chase ended in the Springfield area.
“We then went northbound on Fulbright, made a loop through a trailer park, and back out on Fulbright heading southbound to Kearney,” Corum wrote in the probable cause statement.
“We went southbound on Roosevelt to Atlantic to the south. We went southbound on Park, then westbound on Thoman. At Thoman and Kansas Expressway, we went northbound in the wrong lane of traffic to westbound Atlantic. We then went northbound on Clifton, the eastbound on High Street. At Farmer and High Street, Greene County was able to stop the vehicle by blocking it in.”
Maloney was removed from the vehicle without further incident.
