With improvements coming soon, Mayor Cortez says Joplin should be proud of Joplin Airport

More improvements on the way at Joplin’s Regional Airport.

Mayor Keenan Cortez told the KZRG Morning Newswatch:

“We’re going to make it easier and better and more modern to plane and d-plane at the Joplin Regional Airport. We’re going to spend a few dollars and upgrade the actual gates that are going to take you to the plane and get you off the plane, which is going to make it safer and it’s going to make it more weather friendly.”

Cortez went on to say:  “I’ve flown out of the Joplin Airport before and got wet trying to get on the plane because you couldn’t do it indoors. We’re going to be doing some upgrades on that coming soon.”

According to Mayor Cortez, Joplin should be proud of their airport.

“Our airport is pretty magnificent if you think about regional airports and what we’re able to do. The two flights that we have every day to Denver and Chicago, it’s a very modern facility.  It’s a very safe facility and it’s free parking.”
