Parents, talk early and often to your kids about dangers of drugs

The world of drugs has changed since today’s parents were kids.

Joplin Officer Aaron Gooch on KZRG gave some good advice:

“I think it’s important for them to realize that the landscape is completely different than when they were a youth. Our kids now are facing a lot more potent drugs. The availability is increased with social media and things like that. So just that kind of awareness is really important.” 

Officer Gooch went on to say:  “And then keep having good prevention conversations. Refusal skills. Have those early and often. I mean, you don’t want the first time that your kid is thinking about this is when a friend shoves something in their face and is pressuring them.”
