Northeast Oklahoma students explore health care careers in growing INTEGRIS Health Internship Program

Two dozen high school students from across northeast Oklahoma are getting a closer look at possible careers in healthcare thanks to an immersive internship program offered through Integris Health Grove Hospital and Integris in Miami.
Now in its seventh term, the 16-week program continues to provide valuable hands-on experiences for local youth.
This year, its even bigger.
Previously open only to students at Miami and Grove High Schools, the program has now expanded to include students from Commerce, Afton, Fairland, Jay and Wyandotte.
Elsie Grover of Integris said, “They have an opportunity to rotate through all departments and get to see what life is like in each one.”
“We have a long waiting list,” Grover added. “We try to provide this opportunity to as many students as we possibly can.”
Students shadow medical professionals, observe procedures and experience moments usually not seen outside formal training programs.
