New law in Missouri to help pay for cochlear implants for adults on Medicaid

MissouriNet – Current Missouri law does not provide hearing aids or cochlear implants to low-income adults on Medicaid.

That is set to change on Thursday when State Representative Cameron Parker’s bill officially becomes law

Parker, a Republican, says she expects the new law could help.

“Thirty-seven other states do this,” Parker says.  “They have comprehensive coverage for hearing aids and cochlear implants. So we’re not leading the pack on this. We’re kind of trailing. This is something we need to correct.”

Parker, a Republican, says she expects the new law could help about 15-thousand Missourians.

Parker represents represents Dunklin County, the southern portion of Pemiscot County, and southwestern Butler County (District 150).
