Florida man killed in pedestrian accident on I-44 near Mt. Vernon

A man from Florida is dead after a pedestrian crash on I-44 near Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 46-year-old from Fleming Island, Florida, was hit by a passing semi truck while he was standing outside an SUV that had hit a deer a short time earlier.

That man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.

That accident happened just before 5:30am Friday.
