Congressman Burlison on DOGE savings and future small nuclear generators

Recently Congress passed a 9 billion dollar rescission bill with savings created by DOGE.  That was a first step.

Southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison told the KZRG Morning Newswatch:

“We were able to pass that initial $9 billion rescissions package, which is a huge win. Now, that is not as much as we would love to rescind, but that’s a good first step. And it’s something that Congress hasn’t done in my lifetime that I can think of is actually cut a program. Ronald Reagan once said the closest thing to eternal life that we’ll ever see is a government program. So it’s a good first step. And I think you’re getting ready to see a rescission package come through that will make that $9 billion look very, very small.”

Southwest Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison is the head of a subcommittee that oversees nuclear power.

Why is there a need for small nuclear reactors?

Burlison told Newstalk KZRG:  “We’re going to need to generate two to three times the electricity that we generate today in order to meet the demands for the next 20 years.  Especially when it comes to the amount of electricity that’s being used by data centers, by artificial intelligence and then the fact that you’ve got manufacturers who are chomping at the bit to come back to this country.”
