Registration, sponsorships open for Friends of the Joplin Public Library’s trivia smackdown

Joplin, MO – Get ready to step into the ring for a true battle of the wits, as the Friends of the Joplin Public Library prepare to host Smackdown Showdown: A Trivia Throwdown on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Joplin Public Library, 1901 E. 20th ST.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the competition kicking off at 6 p.m.
This year’s trivia night fundraiser will be a tag-team match that will take brains, brawn, and community spirit in order to bring home the title belt. Professional wrestler turned local legend Barry Linduff – aka “Mr. Saturday Night” – will serve as emcee.
“Our annual trivia night is one of our biggest events of the year,” says Kathy Lazenby, president of the Friends group. “There will be plenty of questions to put your literary knowledge to the test, guaranteed to hit like an elbow drop from the top rope. It’s going to be a fun evening!”
Entry is $100 per table for a team of up to eight participants. Mulligans will be available for $10 each, with a limit of four per team. Round sponsorships are also available for $100. The first-place team will receive a gift certificate, trophy, and – of course – bragging “writes.” Teams are welcome to bring their own refreshments (no alcohol).
A nonprofit organization, the Friends of the Joplin Public Library was founded to provide financial support beyond the library’s operating budget. Membership is open to individuals, families, businesses and other organizations regardless of card-holder status or city of residence.
