JATSO seeking public comments on the 2026 Proposed Unified Planning Work Program

The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) is seeking a 7-day public comment period for the proposed FY2026 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). The UPWP lists transportation studies and tasks that MPO staff and member agencies will perform to support the metropolitan transportation planning process and is updated annually.

The public comment period for the FY2026 UPWP begins at 9 a.m., Friday, August 8, 2025, and concludes at 12 noon, Friday, August 15, 2025. Comments on the amendments can be submitted to Robert Lolley by phone at 417-624-0820 extension 1514 or by e-mail at rlolley@joplinmo.org.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the UPWP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for the Metro Area Public Transit System (MAPS).

JATSO is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Joplin region. Federal legislation requires an MPO for any urbanized area with a population of over 50,000. MPOs ensure that existing and future transportation projects and program expenditures are based on a continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive planning process.
