Morning accident east of Jasper injures two, one seriously

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says failing to yield at a stop sign was the cause of a crash at the Route T and Route K intersection four miles east of Jasper around 7:45 Wednesday morning.

The Patrol says a northbound Dodge Ram, driven by a 27-year-old man from Mt. Vernon, ran the stop sign and hit an eastbound Toyota passenger car, driven by a 45-year-old man from Jasper.

Both vehicles went off the roadway.

The car overturned and the pickup smashed into a utility pole.

The driver of the car was seriously injured. He was med-flighted to a Springfield hospital.

The Ram driver had only minor injuries. He went by private vehicle to a hospital in Joplin
