Missouri wants to increase hunting and fishing licenses

The Missouri Department of Conservation cites inflation and what neighboring states are charging as the reasons for the proposed price hikes. Under the plan, Missouri residents would pay $19.50 for a firearms deer hunting permit, compared to the current 18-dollar charge. A fishing license would rise to 14-dollars, up from the current price of 13-dollars for Missouri residents. The department wants greater increases for nonresident licenses, as well. It says the additional revenue will help to maintain and improve its services, properties, and programs. Public comments on the proposed changes are being taken through the end of this month.
