Vision Carthage Seeks Volunteers for Citywide Work Day to Improve Homes Carthage, MO
Vision Carthage is putting out the call for volunteers to help with a work day aimed at improving selected homes across Carthage from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 27.
Restoration Carthage began in 2016. The program pairs eager volunteers with skilled laborers and materials to complete repairs on homes in need of TLC at no cost to the homeowner through partnerships with other nonprofits like Hearts and Hammers and Habitat for Humanity.
Previously, Vision Carthage would adopt an entire block of houses for repairs, completing over 50 homes to date. This year, the program was expanded to any Carthage resident who attends at least three out of the seven home improvement workshops hosted in the spring through the fall. These free educational classes cover topics like basic home maintenance, gardening, cleaning, painting and similar subjects.
Vision Carthage will be making its final selection for homes to be improved through landscaping and exterior repairs ahead of September 27. While skilled laborers and tradesmen are especially encouraged to help, anyone can volunteer.
“Whether it’s pulling weeds, painting, or hammering in a nail, we can all have a share in helping our neighbors through Restoration Carthage,” said Sally Stuart, Co Director of Vision Carthage. “We’re looking for at least 50 volunteers, but the more we have, the better!” Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up online at visioncarthage.org or call 417-674-3328.
