Outlaws roll through Marshals

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Joplin Outlaws (35-13) dismantled the Fort Smith Marshals (18-30) in a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday.

The Outlaws wasted no time, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Ravaughn Morgan scored on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Mazza. The second inning proved catastrophic for the Marshals, as Joplin erupted for seven runs, capitalizing on three Fort Smith errors.

Ty Zahradnik scored on a fielding miscue by shortstop Matthew Schilling, and Morgan’s RBI single pushed the lead to 3-0. Tyler Brodrick and Mazza kept the rally alive, with Mazza’s single and Murchael Turner’s two-run double extending the lead to 6-0. Errors by second baseman Connor Cox and left fielder Ryan Florenzano allowed two more unearned runs, ballooning the score to 8-0.

Joplin’s bats stayed hot in the third, with Brodrick and Mazza each driving in a run to make it 10-0. The fourth inning saw back-to-back home runs from Garrett Springer and Luke Shannon, followed by Brodrick’s RBI single, pushing the lead to 13-0. Turner capped the scoring with a solo homer in the seventh, his second extra-base hit of the night.

The Outlaws’ 19-hit barrage featured standout performances from Brodrick (4-for-5, 2 RBI), Morgan (3-for-5, 3 runs, 1 RBI), and Mazza (2-for-3, 3 RBI). Turner and Springer each homered, while Shannon’s pinch-hit homer added to the onslaught. Every Joplin starter recorded at least one hit, overwhelming a Marshals pitching staff that committed six errors.

Keaton Anderson was masterful on the mound for Joplin, tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five. His efficient 92-pitch outing secured his fourth win of the season. Fort Smith’s Kaden Murray took the loss, surrendering 10 runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in three innings.
