Missouri AG Bailey Sues Planned Parenthood for Abortion Drug Risk Lies

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Attorney General Andrew Bailey is seeking civil penalties and restitution for Missouri women who have taken the abortion drug in the last five years in a new lawsuit against the national Planned Parenthood organization. The lawsuit alleges the abortion giant has been violating the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act by hiding the dangers of abortion drugs from women in order to cut costs and increase revenue.

In a press release, Bailey’s office stated that while Planned Parenthood claims mifepristone is ‘safer than Tylenol,’ between 4.5 and 10 percent of women who take the drug experience a serious adverse event. Bailey says he won’t let a “death factory” deceive and endanger women.

“Attorney General Bailey is modeling leadership for the rest of the country by standing up to the abortion lobby and fighting for truth, transparency and the safety of Missouri women. He’s showing real courage by holding Planned Parenthood accountable, and we applaud his bold action,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America.

“Women deserve to know the truth about the real risks of abortion drugs. Planned Parenthood has been lying to women for years, putting profits over people. This is medical negligence disguised as health care. Women are ending up in emergency rooms, and some are losing their lives — all so the abortion industry can make a buck.”

Two recent Charlotte Lozier Institute studies debunk the abortion industry’s deception on the risk of abortion drugs finding:

  •     The claim repeated by medical societies, politicians and media pundits that abortion drugs are ‘safer than Tylenol’ to be completely baseless. These slogans defy drug safety communication standards by misrepresenting data and oversimplifying critical safety considerations.
  •     Even before the Dobbs decision, nearly 84% of drug-induced abortion-related ER visits were miscoded.
