Ft. Leonard Wood soldier’s murder case to go to trial

An Army office has referred murder and obstruction of justice charges against a Fort Leonard Wood soldier in the 2024 death of an Army sergeant.
A neutral officer has referred the case of Specialist Wooster Rancy to court-martial, which means he will go to trial in a military court for the charges against him.
Rancy is accused of murdering Sergeant Sarah Roque in October 2024.
The 23-year-old’s body was found in a Fort Leonard Wood dumpster on the southern Missouri base after she did not report for duty.
Both served with the base’s 5th Engineer Battalion.
Michelle McCaskill, with the Office of Special Trial Counsel, tells Newstalk KZRG now that the case has been referred to trial, a military judge will be assigned and schedule the arraignment, dates for pre-trial hearings, and the trial itself.
Rancy is jailed in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
