Fourth of July travel brings an increased presence of troopers to Missouri roadways

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will have an increased presence on the state’s roadways starting Thursday night for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Lieutenant Eric Brown says they will put a focus on hazardous moving violations.

“Those violations are going to be excessive speed, aggressive lane changes, following too close. Any indicators of an impaired driver as our troopers work to make this a holiday weekend safer, more enjoyable for everybody. And you look at the 2024 counting period, which is actually one day longer last year than it will be this year. But we had 14 people killed and 560 injured.”

Brown there will also be more state troopers out on the water this holiday weekend.
