JATSO needs your input for community survey

Want to make a difference in the future of your community? The Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization is giving you that opportunity.
JATSO has announced the launch of a community survey to gather input for the update of its Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), a long-range blueprint for improving the region’s transportation system.
“It’s a plan that we do every five years and basically it helps us budget project wise and set goals for transportation improvements over the next 20 years,” Joplin Transportation Coordinator Robert Lolley said. “ It’s important to hear from those residents that live in the area. They can identify where the problem areas are in the transportation network and give us their insights on how best to fix them.”
The online survey, available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/jatso2025 through June 30, 2025, seeks community feedback on transportation safety, problem areas, and ideas for improvement. The survey consists of roughly 15 questions pertaining to transportation-related ideas and projects as well as public transit, walking, biking and the airport.
“They are used to directly come up with the goals,” Lolley said about the surveys. “It’s kind of goal-focused as we go. It is a 20-year plan. So as you get closer to it, we do what’s called the TIP and it is like this for the next four years.”
