B&B Theatres announces exclusive cinema concepts and bowling at new Joplin location
June 12, 2025 – Nearly 18 months ago, B&B Theatres, the nation’s largest privately-held theater chain, announced the intent to construct a luxury 7-screen cinema location in Joplin, Missouri at the southeast corner of 32nd Street and Hammonds Boulevard. This construction is nearing completion, and grand opening is projected for late August 2025!
B&B has already announced massive, wall-to-wall curved screens, heated leather recliners, laser projection, the Marquee Bar and Grille, a massive, two-story, 60-game Outtakes Arcade! Movies are the tip of the iceberg at this new entertainment facility, but as the facility nears completion, B&B is ready to announce even more exciting and exclusive concepts and amenities!
To begin with, the new Joplin facility will offer a B&B GRAND SCREEN, the company’s premium large format venue, offering one of the largest screens in the nation. But that Grand Screen will also be home to ScreenX, the world’s first and greatest multi-projection theater platform!
During standard Grand Screen showtimes, guests will enjoy the film on the massive front screen, but during ScreenX showtimes, select sequences will play not only on the screen at the front of the auditorium, but on the left and right sidewalls, creating a totally immersive 270-degree viewing experience that must be seen to
be believed!
But there are even more exclusive theaters just down the hall!
screenPLAY! is one of B&B’s proprietary and most beloved auditorium concepts: a movie theater with a playground INSIDE! Designed for families with small children, screenPLAY! encourages kids (under 11) to run around and get their wiggles out before the show! With a custom preshow full of games, activities, and music, screenPLAY! invites young moviegoers to play before the play structure is closed and folks settle in for the magic of the movies.
B&B Theatres in Joplin will also offer The Lyric auditorium, a smaller and more intimate auditorium designed as a rentable venue for private events! With high end finishes and tables mounted on each reclining chair, the Lyric will play independent and art-house films (when available).
But the magic of the movies is only part of the entertainment value B&B is bringing to Joplin!
Accompanying the theater complex will be 12 lanes of duckpin bowling, a simplified version of traditional bowling that uses smaller, lighter balls and pins. It also features shorter lanes and allows players three rolls per frame instead of the usual two, making for a more accessible and fun game for all
ages! All of these concepts and amenities will be supplemented by B&B’s signature concession offerings, full service bar, and Sterling’s restaurant label, offering appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
