Schreiber Foods expansion update and Carthage moving forward

Schreiber Foods first announced an expansion of their Carthage plant, but then Carthage Mayor Bren Flanigan told Newstalk KZRG:

“It hasn’t been canceled. It hasn’t been, you know, stopped, so to speak. It has been paused. And the rationale it’s been given that I’m aware of is essentially uncertain economic conditions.  A lot of economic uncertainty out there. And we’ve had a very long history with Schreiber. They’ve made tremendous contributions to the community. We’ve got a lot of employees who still live in Carthage and we feel very positive about our future relationship. So we’re not concerned about it at this time.”

No word on when that expansion will take place.

There was a lot of chaos in the Carthage city government last year.

Recently a lawsuit was concluded.

There is now an attempt to “move forward”.

Carthage Mayor Bren Flanigan told Newstalk KZRG:

“Well, I have been told by individual city council members and it was shared during the debate phase that many of those elected to council, their constituents had expressed to the now serving council member that they were ready for the city to move on. They were tired of kind of the drama, tired of those types of things that just weren’t lending itself or adding to the growth of the city, the forward progress of the city.”
