One Joplin unveils new StoryWalk installation

Summer is here and so is a new installment to the StoryWalk.

One Joplin held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Leonard Park on Tuesday, inviting families, educators and community members to celebrate the latest unveiling that features The Mighty McKracken by local author Izzy B.

“I mean, it’s everything,” Izzy B told NewsTalk KZRG. “It’s a dream come true. I would never have even imagined that this was something possible or it was a thing. But for the fact that kids come here and play in the park and could go on a walk and experience my book in a whole new way is just incredible.”

The StoryWalk features a children’s book laid out in pages along a trail for children to walk along the trail while reading to completion. 

“Just the support from Joplin has always been top notch,” Izzy B said. “I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I’ve lived here, born here, raised here, and Joplin has kind of come, you know, to my aid in helping me grow and become more than I could have ever imagined. To know that kids around this area are going to get to experience my book just makes it that much better.”

The installment will be available all season long and is the second of the year. The first installment is at the Joplin Public Library.
