Zimmer’s Jason Dittmer joins Morning NewsWatch to talk AI

Artificial Intelligence is here to stay, and it’s only going to get more prevalent in our lives if we like it or not.
While there are some legitimate fears about using it, Zimmer Marketing’s Marketing Team Leader Jason Dittmer believes there is plenty of good coming from A.I. and it can impact your life in a very positive way.
“I think AI really empowers the ability to learn and create and build new things that were unimaginable just a decade ago,” Dittmer said while on the Morning NewsWatch on Wednesday. “I mean, anybody can learn how to do anything that they’re interested in. It’s not really the question of whether or not AI is going to change our lives. It already has. I think the question is how can we use it to unlock our true potential?”
The fears of course include what may happen as this transition into AI takes shape. Dittmer likened the scenario we are in similarly to John Henry and the steam engine. He insisted those looking at this in a fearful manner should have a different lens.
“I mean, we can think about the story of John Henry, and he had strength and determination, and he died with a hammer in his hand,” Dittmer said. “I mean, so the legend goes, right? But he was fighting this transition. And I think the ultimate lesson to learn here is from that story and that legend, is that we don’t need to fight this. We can use this to empower ourselves and do greater things.”
AI is impacting our lives already, and that can be seen with the world of importing and exporting, and logistics as well as an example.
“(AI is) optimizing routes and it’s providing smarter training for drivers,” Dittmer said. “It’s not just replacing them, but it’s helping them be smarter and safer. And the future isn’t about man versus machine, it’s about what can people achieve when they harness the power of these new tools.”
Dittmer noted that with the advancement in AI technology, his team at Zimmer Marketing has actually expanded. In fact, he said embracing AI has helped his entire team become more efficient.
“This whole time in my career, I’ve been using a shovel to shovel snow,” Dittmer added about the positives of using AI. “You know, down the road, they’re covered in snow and we got to get them shoveled off, right? That’s the purpose, that’s the job. Now, I have a snowplow. AI is like, I transitioned from just using a shovel.”
