Memorial Scholarship Honors the Legacy of NEO Ag Student, Chase Langston

MIAMI, Okla. – Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College is honored to announce the Chase Langston Memorial Scholarship, created to celebrate the life, values, and enduring legacy of Chase M. Langston—a beloved NEO student.

Chase Langston, 19, of Parsons, Kansas, passed away on April 6, 2023, following a tragic accident in Miami, Oklahoma. At the time of his passing, Chase was a freshman at NEO, where he was studying Ranch Management while pursuing his lifelong passion for agriculture, livestock and the cowboy way of life.

Born in Dodge City, Kansas, and raised in Parsons, Chase embodied a philosophy of “work hard, play hard, and love hard”—principles that defined every aspect of his life. He was known for his relentless work ethic, helping with construction, farm labor and cattle work across the region.

He was an active FFA member, a SkillsUSA participant and an accomplished student in carpentry and ag sales at Labette County High School. His dedication continued at NEO, where he was a valued member of the campus and the NEO Agriculture Department.

“Chase lived with purpose and passion,” said Dr. Mary Booth, NEO Agriculture Department Chair. “He represented the best of what our students strive to be—driven, kind, and full of heart. This scholarship will help future NEO students pursue their dreams in agriculture and honor Chase’s incredible legacy for generations to come.”

The Chase Langston Memorial Scholarship supports students enrolled in NEO’s Agriculture or Ranch Management programs, providing financial assistance to those who reflect Chase’s dedication to rural life and hard work.

This year, Drew Schibi, also from Parsons, Kansas, was named the first recipient of the Chase Langston Memorial Scholarship. He was awarded the scholarship alongside Chase’s parents, Jason and Taffy Langston.
