With little time to spare, Missouri special session begins today in an effort to win the Royals and Chiefs

The state legislature begins its special session today that aims to keep the Chiefs and Royals in Missouri.

Senate President Pro Tem Cindy O’Laughlin tells Newstalk KZRG about the special session including a tax incentive package to help the teams build new stadiums.

O’Laughlin said:  “If we’re going to be looking at something that can attract the Chiefs and Royals to stay in the state, which I would like to do that, then it has to be a net positive for the people of the state. And there are various forms and abilities to do that.”

Some ultra conservative lawmakers are demanding more tax cuts before they will consider tax incentives being “handed over to billionaire owners.”

The special session will also focus on providing state aid to tornado victims and funding for infrastructure projects around the state.
