Burlison discusses One Big Beautiful Bill and he is frustrated by moderate Republicans

Why can’t the deficit be reduced starting next year?

Congressman Eric Burlison told the KZRG Morning Newswatch:

“The problem is the first year, we’re spending an enormous amount on the border and because they need the border money now and they need the military modernization money now. So you’re talking about $ 200, $300 billion at the very beginning. And so even with all the savings that we’ve been able to identify, you’re not going to balance that first year. So that is a frustrating part of this bill. And I’m hoping that the Senate can figure out a way to pay to at least adjust that.”

Who could mess up the passing of the final version of the One Big Beautiful Bill?

Congressman Eric Burlison tells KZRG it’s moderate Republicans:

“I’m frustrated with them. And I’m now at a place where I’m just not playing nice anymore. I’m calling them out because they’re compromising this country. And it’s the New York delegation of Republicans. It’s some of, I won’t say all of the California delegation because there’s some that are pretty good in that group. There’s a handful of members from Nebraska and Iowa that are the moderates in those states. One of them is from Pennsylvania, they are the most moderate members of our conference. And the frustrating part is, I understand you have to vote your district, but don’t fight your own party on what needs to happen and really to save this country.”

Burlison went on to say:

“But that’s what they’ve been doing, and they’re doing everything they can to avoid votes just so they can keep their seats. And I think people are sick and tired of politicians that just want to keep their seats and avoid the difficult vote. “
