Trump tax cuts and big beautiful bill - KS Congressman Schmidt

What happens to the Trump tax cuts if they are not addressed in the budget bill going through Congress?

Kansas Congressman Derick Schmidt told Newstalk KZRG:

“Those sunset they go back up to where they were back in 2016, 2017? We need to extend them. And so we must do that in my view, and I think that's a universally held view, at least on the Republican side and hopefully with some Democrat members too. But if we're going to extend them, how do you do that in a way that doesn't just explode the already enormous federal budget deficit going forward?”

Schmidt went on to say:

“How do you extend that tax relief, in what form and how do you pay for that? And once we work out that big picture issue, all of the other pieces will fall into place.”
