Thursday Child Care Provider Appreciation Day in Kansas

TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly recently proclaimed Friday, May 9, as Child Care Provider Appreciation Day in Kansas. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), along with Child Care Aware of America, celebrates this special day on the Friday before Mother’s Day every year to recognize child care providers, teachers and other educators of young children.
Child care providers are critical for child development and provide a place where children can learn, play and grow in safe and nurturing environments, allowing parents and guardians the ability to work and provide for their families.
“Child care providers are essential for the development and growth of so many children in our state,” KDHE Deputy Secretary for Public Health Ashley Goss said. “Our providers are some of the most dedicated and professional individuals in Kansas. They tirelessly work as early educators and role models for our children, continuing to create the foundation that is so necessary for children to succeed.”
Child care providers are important pillars of their community and an important point of contact for connections to other early childhood services which ensures children and families receive the resources and support they need to thrive. The future of our state depends on the quality of the early childhood experiences provided to young children today by dedicated providers. Support for high-quality child care represents a worthy commitment to the children of Kansas and their future.
