I-49 crash claims life of Joplin toddler

A fatal crash on Interstate 49 Saturday evening claimed the life of a one-year-old girl from Joplin.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened just south of Goodman, when southbound traffic had stopped due to an animal on the interstate.

A Honda Accord then collided with the back of the towed unit of a heavy-duty semi-trailer truck.

The baby, a passenger in the Accord, was pronounced dead at a Neosho hospital.

The 22-year-old driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
