Girard Police Chief leaves position; Interviews for job to begin soon

Girard, Kansas Police Chief Sierra Roberts has left her post.

The City reportedly has already interviewed candidates for the job.

Girard recently hired two full-time experienced police officers and plan to hire more at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Council.

The Police Chief position was posted on April 28th.

Interviews for the Police Chief position will begin within a few days.

In a posting on Facebook, city officials said, “We are confident that whoever we hire will provide strong leadership for the department.”

In early 2025 Council adopted new pay scales and – at the recommendation of the Police Chief – retention pay for the Police Department.
