Old Freeman Hospital coming down – replaced with veterans/seniors housing

Soon, the old hospital building at 20th and Sargent will be coming down and will be replaced. 

Joplin Mayor Keenan Cortez told Newstalk KZRG:

“Economic security along with Joplin Habitat for Humanity are going to partner up along with the city and we’re going to build something beautiful. There’s going to be housing there on those lots that are going to allow veterans in our community that need good quality housing to be able to have housing as well as seniors.” 

Cortez also said:  “I think it’s going to be something that’s going to improve that neighborhood. I think it’s something that the citizens of Joplin are going to be able to be proud of and we’re going to move our way forward into making sure the least of these are served in our community.”
